All Vector tools require channel assignment to specify which hardware interface has to be used.

When installing tools and hardware from Vector, this assignment should be done automatically.

However, if a change needs to be made, use Vector Hardware Manager (released 2022) or Vector Hardware Config (no further development) to adjust:

Channel assignment with Vector Hardware Manager

    1. Open the Vector Hardware Manager from the Windows Start Menu
    2. Set the view slider to Configuration view (right side, wrench)
    3. Click in the left menu on Application Channels Configuration and unfold the list with hardware (device) channels on the right side
    4. Select the software application in the top row for which you want to assign the channels (CANape, CANoe, etc.)
    5. To assign a hardware (device) channel to a logical channel of an application click and drag the channel from the right columns to the center column
    6.  Click on Deploy to write the setting to the device. Successful deployment will be confirmed.

Channel assignment with Vector Hardware Config

    1. Open Vector Hardware Config from the Control Panel.
    2. If properly installed, the hardware will appear with its serial number in parentheses.
    3. Click the plus (+) sign next to the hardware to display the hardware channels available.

If a Bus Transceiver e.g. CANpiggy is installed, it will display the type. Otherwise it will display the channel name (e.g. Channel 2).

The Hardware section shows all installed Vector hardware.

Each single hardware channel (e.g., CANpiggy 1057Gcap), can be assigned with any number of logical channels of an application (e.g. CANoe CAN 1, CANalyzer CAN1, CANape CAN1). For this select the hardware channel and right-click to select the appropriate logical application channel.

    Note:

Important Hint for Vector Hardware Manager and Vector Hardware Config

The assignment of more than one application channel (logical channel of one application) to one hardware (device) channel can cause unexpected or wrong results.
