Issue:
During the execution of a Vector software installer (e.g. CANoe) under Windows 10, the installation of a component (e.g. CANdb++) is unsuccessful with a fatal error. A message like this can appear:
Error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation.
Background:
The error is not triggered by the Vector product but is by Windows. It appears in context with an incomplete previous installation or missing rights/priviledges.
Solution:
If you have accidentally executed the installation without administrator rights,
- Exit the installation
- Open the contents in the
%temp%
directory by clicking Windows Start | Run | %temp% and delete all contents in that folder. - Restart the installation with administrator privileges (right-click | Run as administrator)
